Gusset leather thickness.
I’m making a travel watch pouch out of 1.8 mm veg tan leather. It’s 70 mm X120 mm. The gusset leather is only 30 mm wide, so the stitching has proved challenging. What about thinning the gusset leather to say 1.2 mm?

Yes, thinning is fine if you feel it's needed. I assume it's unlined?
