Hi all,

I have been looking on the web but are not able to find what im looking for.

I bought at bag of different hardware some years ago and have 2 og these metal frames, but i cont find out how to use them. I guess im going to wrap them in leather and then make some kind of bag and sew them on, but i need some inspiration to get started and some inspiration for how to close the bag.

Is there anyone here that used a set like these, who can help me get started

It's difficult to see from the picture, but it looks like that's only one side of a frame.

This may be the frame used on a 'kiss' lock bag, but the lock isn't there. Doing a reverse image search, it looks like you got that pic from Weaver leather supply. It might be worth asking them for examples of use.

Does anyone have any experience with nubuck? I was advised by the seller to buy a nubuck eraser or block ? Any suggestions plse? TIA

Hi! Iโ€™m trying to understand how PDF patterns are included in these files. Has anyone tried using something like NAPS2 scanner download for Windows 7 to check these patterns? Iโ€™m curious if it makes the process easier.

BOX STITCHING

I do a lot of work for the Royal Marines Charity, making items out of timber and leather (engraved coasters, specialist frames, engraved leather trays as examples). My family has serviced in the Corps since 1880 and we have a son currently serving in 42. My father was in 47 amd landed on Gold Beach on DDay, being shot later that day. We were in Normandy last week for the DDay commemorations which were very moving as you might expect. The 47 Association retired an old standard during one ceremony and the Chairman has asked me to make a glass and oak triangular case (you might have seen the folded flags given at funerals in the US; same thing). Thatโ€™s no problem. But they would also like a leather protective case in which the standard and case can be taken around to various events. In my mind, I am thinkingโ€ฆ

Hi Martin, sorry I completely missed this post.

If you are using thick leather and a stiffening board, a box stitch would be appropriate. If you are using leather and wood (ply for example) then you can stitch or use nails and trim just like a trunk.

From memory, box stitching can be seen in the following courses:

The box stitched watch case

Solid leather box making

Round leather box making

The Bloomsbury attache case
