Interesting video from Dior showcasing some of their more intimate bag making secrets here.
I particularly like the technique if stabilising the softer fibres between the scales. I'm pretty sure they will add an underlining layer over the top to seal it all in, but a great way to stabilise without adding too much stiffness.
What do you guys think?

I am also wondering if the leather straps used are also to fill the concave portions of the leather? It seems to me that without some kind of "filling", once turned, you could press the now convex portions of leather inward. If you follow...?
