So after watching Philips box tutorial a few times, I really want to make a small box myself. My plan is to use some thin leather, and therefore, can't use a thick wood
(would not be able to stick through) So searching around, found some other materials. But cant source them anywhere!
This looks like bleached greybeard, but craftsman says not.
Apparently he found it in his printer😆 This has to be translation error of somekind right?
Build like a Lettuce huh?
This box was made only using this stuff! Credit -----> unbearable_lightness
This looks really good, but can´t fint it. Seems it used for shoe soles? (credit go_leathers)
So I need your help. Anyone now some alternativ to wood I can use? Something I can stitch through, but with enough rigidity to be a box 💪🏻
You might try Tandy Leather https://www.tandyleather.eu/en/product/bag-stiffener. Bontex and Texon are the same thing both are brand names. Found this source in Italy https://www.meneghinisnc.it/sample/rinforzi-pelletteria-salpa-texon-talyn-microfobra/texon-rinforzi-pelletteria Another UK source https://www.algeos.com/html/products/footwearcomps/celluloseboard.html
Right, so I visited my old teacher and asked the question. He said he gets his bontex boards from a company called TR LAWMAN, based in England he also said he thinks they can provide just one sheet at a time. Hope this helps
Just wanted to chip in, when I was learning footwear at college we did use (bontex board) all the time, used to fold the upper of the shoe underneath and adhere it to the bontex board then tack the leather in place (if i remember correctly), I am going to see my old teacher soon so if you would like I could ask him where he gets his bontex board from?
I found this link several years ago but haven't ordered any. I was planing on making a suitcase but never got around to do it.
