The Caiman tail was a bit more firm than I thought, even though it was softer than the other ones I had, which made the strap keepers more difficult to maneuver than I expected. It's not perfect, but I'll hand it over as a Christmas present mostly proudly (after I remove the thumbprint from the clasp!).
And next time I'll use a different color of thread, no matter what the person likes!

Recently purchased a new set of clams, and they fold in half. After much (much!) sanding and staining and coating and sanding and sanding and sanding... they fold again. I'm happy with the final outcome!
Now I just need to trim a few inches off the bottom, or get a barstool for stitching.

I'm a semi-new member, but a long time fan. I know a few that have been members for longer, and I've admired what they've been able to produce. Finally took the plunge, after collecting tools (both the good and the bad) and leather (mostly bad but some good) for the last 3 years. I'm enjoying the learning. And I'm definitely more aware of the wrong things I've purchased (for the types of leather goods I want to produce) over the last few years! Ronda
