A couple of the fiddly parts were the most challenging, but mostly due to less than ideal material choice. Placing the fixed strap keeper evenly was difficult, with the stiffness of the caiman. Evenly cutting the filler material was difficult, as I was using leather split as the filler and it just wasn't firm enough to easily skive down to a thin edge. And then the last is just a time/practice thing - I couldn't get the English Point even on my band, requiring a design revision of the flattened end. I cut a few different linings attempting to get the curve even on both sides, but I wasn't happy with any of the attempts.
But on the whole, the project was fiddly but actually easier than I thought it would be. I'll attempt again using "normal" leather, just to check how much was me and how much was the leather choices.
The whole project highlighted for me how much material choices matter, and there are reasons for using what you recommend!
