Is there a rule of thumb for distance between the edge of the strap and the filler? Thank you!

How do you make a raised belt with a turnover? Since the turnover needs to be about half the thickness of the belt, do you continue the insert to the end of the belt, or do you stop the insert at the point where the turnover starts? Hope this question makes sense.

The large scales on my ostrich leg are separating from the skin. I was wondering if it is normal and should I glue them down? Seems like making a wallet from a leg is not going to wear well if the scales pull away from the rest of the skin.

I‘m using suede as a lining on the inside of the Lancette Handle. Do I want the skin to stretch length wise of the handle or stretch across the width? Thank you.

I‘ve been searching on the internet for days now on hot foil machines. I can’t afford a Mettalic Elephant machine and have been looking at vintage Howard and Kinglsley and Chinese models. Does anyone have any experience with any of these machines? I understand that Howard is better than Kingsley, but that information is from very few sources. The Chinese made machines are certainly affordable but there are so many that I am at a loss. One other question, should I invest in the best stamps that I can afford? I am assuming that well made stamps will make a difference if used with a lesser or vintage machine. Any guidance on this will be greatly appreciated.
