A mixture of leather and cork

Hi all!

I've made this pouch to carry the papers of my car.

For the first time, I used a piece of cork , since I wanted to mix some with leather and see how it turned.

I like the result quite much except for the edges: the edges of cork are a bit difficult to work with (especially when painting). The cork has a kind of canvas reinforcement which makes it difficult when sanding to prepare the edges to receive the paint. On the other hand, the leather edges don't look as I wanted, I used 3 layers of Vernis 600 (paint - heat - sand x 3) and finished with some bees wax. However it doesn't get shiny as I wanted. And this paint doesn't do well with alcohol.

- Cork: bought in Etsy (from a person in Portugal)

- Leather: Sully chèvre from Alran - navy blue

- Thread: YF 0.45 - black

- Irons: Crimson Hides - 3.25 mm (I will try to use others of 3.38 mm next time).

- Paint: Vernis 600 - black

Thanks Ruth! yes it was something I had in mind since long! I will make some test also with other cork prints. I have one with roses and other with some black and gold printing. Maybe I will make a clutch or so :)
