Hello,

Latigo is a combination tan, meaning it has some characteristics of both Chrome Tanned Leathers and Vegtanned leather.

One of the characteristic that it has from Vegtan in the ability to be burnished. But most people will tell you to edge paint it instead.

That is because a latigo will never burnish as good or as pretty as a pure vegtan. It will be an acceptable, mostly technical burnish (to seal the edges). I do not believe you will ever be able to achieve that high gloss mirror polish on it or even a regular gloss. It will take you way more time also. The thing to remember is that Latigo is highly saturated in oils and fats, which means that when you put water or tokonole or beeswax on your edges, the fibers of the leather are allready coated in oil, which makes it extremly hard for the burnishing agent to penetrate into them.

I hope this answers your question
