I'm a very raw amateur at leather work and starting very late as a hobby. I took this up after a motorcycle accident.

I think the biggest problem for a beginner is sourcing the right leather (there is a video on that) and the tools. Also as Philip points out 'attention to detail'. I can't count how many duds I've created before starting here. :)
