I have to do a couple of Koala themed bag charms and I've been playing with a template to hopefully make the process a little easier. These are made from 1.5mm thick G10. My sister is a wildlife carer and she specializes in looking after baby Koala's and these are for her.

Hey guys, Just finished this little project and thought I'd share. First go at a pen roll and matching pencil case, Pink Kangaroo leather with bright Yellow Kangaroo for the lining and hand stitched with linen thread. Very loud colours chosen by the client and I think they look great, even if you do need sunglasses to look at them. A couple of small design changes needed but I'm happy with the result.

Hi all, My latest leather knife just shipped off to it's new owner. It's the first time I've used this blade steel and I'm very happy with the results. The steel is M390, it's a high carbon stainless steel and it has a high wear and corrosion resistance. The knife is 160mm overall and the blade is 2.3mm thick and 34mm wide. The handle is Thuya burl and the handle pins are 4mm diameter tube with 5 pins inside. If you are making your own knife or planning to, please feel free to ask any questions you have. Cheers

Here's a couple of pieces I recently did for a customer in Singapore. I replaced the handle on the skiving knife and made one new awl ( the one with the grooves around it) and made new handles for the awls. The handle material is dyed Fossil Mammoth Tooth, supplied by the customer. It's a touchy material to work with but it looks amazing. What do you think? Cheers, Doug

Well I finally got this bag together, been sitting in the cupboard waiting for me to sew it all together for way too long. I always have more projects going on than I can get done in a timely fashion. I'm pretty happy with the result even though I made my fair share of mistakes, most of which arose from my decision to use leather that I already had that was thicker than what Phillip specified in the course. This created a few problems in assembling the bag, especially in stitching it together and tuning it out. The exterior leather is Italian luggage leather I got locally years ago that wasn't really suitable for knife sheaths (I'm a knife maker). Interior is lined with blue Kangaroo skin and black pig skin on the gusset, and the beading is black Kangaroo skin cut in a circle around the skin to allow you to use a single length of finished beading ( same way you cut lace, just wider). I made the square rings for the handle attachment out of some stainless steel rod and I am going to make a zipper tag out of some stainless Damascus. As always comments both good and bad are welcome and appreciated. Cheers, Doug

Just finished up this strap and pad for my daughters laptop bag. High density foam inside, veg tan and goatskin exterior for the pad, all hand stitched with linen thread. Strap took all day to stitch but I'm happy with the result. Comments welcome, good or bad. Doug

Just a couple of pics of a little purse I've been making. This started life as a business card holder but my daughter ordered a few changes to the design. She said she needed a little wallet/purse that would hold a card and a little cash that could fit in a small bag or your pocket, so this is what we came up with and she calls it Alice.

In Say Hello Before Posting
First post here so hello to everyone. I've been a Knifemaker for over 20 years so I have always done my own leather sheaths as well as the odd belt. I got pretty keen to improve my leather skills last year and I've been trying a lot of new projects when I have some spare time, some more successful than others. I use some exotic leathers and I like using linen thread in contrasting colours Would like to do the odd bag and maybe a Dulles bag down the track. I've also been enjoying making some of my own leather tools lately, certainly a lot different than my normal work. Cheers, Doug
