Thanks Fadi. I will try curving the corners next time 😊. Edge painting is good, but if I can avoid it, I will happily do so. If I am working with veg tan, I don't edge paint. Saves me alot of pain lol

I bought some Lamport on Friday and I got the 1.7mm to make bags. I could upload a video of it so u see how it moves.

If it was me I would dismantle it and make a pattern out of it. You could always reuse the leather as others have suggested

Thanks Terry. It definitely took too much time but I am happy I was patient with it. The one thing I got from this is that everything has to do with patience and the ability to not be scared of starting over if you feel you are not getting the results you want 😊

Thanks Maru. The leather is just a regular chrome tanned Croc print cow hide I bought from AA Crack. I lined it with a red kid skin. Yes I ended up not using reinforcements due to the earlier fiasco. I will try to find more pictures and upload. The leather was about 1.4mm and the lining was 1mm so together it came up to 2.6mm which was okay for it to maintain its structure. For the straps I doubled the straps and used a non stretch tape in the middle to prevent it from stretching.

I think you were justified in taking that stance. I just fininished a Business Architecture course yesterday and one of the frameworks architects use shows that your ethos or values influence your business goals and strategies. It is Your business and you can decide which products you make based on your personal values. Money is good, but not all money is.

@Fadi Thanks Fadi. I will definitely be asking for help here when I run into trouble. I actually went to a shop and bought 2 bags that were on sale so I could do some reverse engineering .Now I just need to find the time to actually do it 🤣🤣🤣.

Hi everyone, I am Dibs, and I only got into leatherwork last year when I went to a 1 day bag making class. I fell in love with it and went mad, and bought all sorts of stuff for my new hobby 🙄🙄. Hi everyone, I am a bit late to the party but my goals for 2019 are 1) Improve my construction skills 2) learn how to make my own bag patterns 3) start my own leather business in addition to my day job. I just want to make enough money this year to be able to recover what I have spent so far on tools, afford new leather tools/machinery and take a class in person with Philip 😂. 4) I suppose the one I most looking forward to achieving is making a sale to someone who is not a friend or family.
