I'm currently living in Europe and tried Phil's suggestion for Buyleatheronline to sourse some Ostrich. The price is conderably less expensive then Panameu or others but they're out of stock, I received an email from them stating that they buy their's from deadstock surplus from manufactures and they're not sure when the supply will come back in. In the meantime I came across jayhartke on instagram, they're in the States and I ordered from Jay and will pick up when visiting my father in a couple weeks. $10 a sq ft and they've been working with a South Aftrican tannery for decades. Hope this helps someone. They also sell some delious alligator, croc and lizard but I can't travel with those.

I've found myself with quite a bit of time to pursue something creative as an American here in Greece and remembered in Boy Scouts the Tandy leather projects I made in my youth. I like the leather goods I've purchased in the last ten years and thought it better to buy leather and craft my own. Over the last three years I've accumulated the tools and confidence need to further my skills. Looking forward to the knowledge I'm sure to gain from being here. Well that's it. Howdy John
