A business question for the group. What would you say is the yield on a veg tan side? I'm pricing a basic job out for someone and I don't want to undercut how much leather I'll need. I know each piece of leather I need is about 8x5 or so on some eye glass sleeves and want to buy hides as they are much more economical. So for instance if I buy a 22ft hide is it safe to say may 10% is unusable for the project based on scars and marks or possibly more? I know so many say the main item you need to calculate right for is your leather or you can kiss your profit away haha. Thanks all, Matt

Hey everyone, so I’m looking to buy a crocodile skin to make a duffle bag and was wondering what grade and size people have used in the past. I know it’s subjective based on bag size. My thoughts were it would be a weekender bag that’s decent size. Thanks for the help, Matt

I just came across this new sewing machine from sailrite that is specifically designed for leather work and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this brand or thoughts on the specs of this model? Thanks, Matt https://www.sailrite.com/Sailrite-Leatherwork-Sewing-Machine-Package-110V

Hey Everyone, My name is Matt and I am from Boston. I come to leather from custom sneakers. I've wanted to learn more about leather craft for some time and thought what better time then when I can't leave the house for the foreseeable future. I've been working on it for the past few months and have loved every moment of it. Outside of leather craft I work in healthcare at a large hospital, run a non profit for children who have sustained long term injuries called Minutes for Memories and have a podcast called Sneaker Closet which has become one of the largest sneaker podcasts worldwide, which has been a lot of fun. I look forward to learning from all of you this year. Best, Matt

It seems to be one of most affordable and I've seen a few positive things but wanted to ask the community. Thanks
