Despite my best efforts I still can't get what I would consider a perfect edge. I know for functionality's sake it probably doesn't matter, but I still feel myself wanting them to be as close to perfect as possible. Would anyone consider their edges close to perfect? Anything else that you do aside from Phil's technique? My edges are good, but I still get tiny little bubbles or lines, and if I keep adding edge paint it just builds up and is a little unsightly.

I'm sure many have done this before - I've got a 12 prong Blanchard iron and unfortunately I went thorugh onto my stone and chipped a few of the teeth fairly badly. Basically 8 of the teeth are fine - assume it might be best to just file down the 4 busted teeth and use this as an 8 prong iron from now on?

Is there a consensus out there - something like the Uniters of hot foils? Can anyone also weigh in on whether getting foils with some actual gold in them is worth it? Thanks!

Crazy or maybe not considering our current circumstances... I don't know why I thought of this today (again maybe current circumstances) but wondering if there are any types of leather or finish that are more antibacterial than others? I would have to imagine chrome tanned might be preferable to veg tan which will absord all kinds of moisture/odour/pigment etc. - of course this is also one of its charms. I did start Googling very briefly and there do seem to be some antibacterial sprays and finishes that can be applied after production - perhaps an interesting extra or added feature - I hate to be a profiteer but I can imagine it being quite easy to tack on an extra ten quid for "antibacterial protection" or to coat your leather goods in "antivirus spraay".

I am looking to give piping a try (small crossbody bag) and looking for inspiration/advice on Instagram I came across this picture from made_by_nichols an excellent UK based leatherworker who I’m sure Phil is familiar with. Does anyone know what is going on with the small cuts on the rounded corners?

Hello All, Very happy to have found this website and signed up for the courses. Tremendous value and really enjoying them so far. I have been experimenting with Philip's method for edge finishing which in the video example requires very little sanding - it would seem that any heavy duty sanding is actually not productive to developing a fine edge. However I am wondering what is the protocol when you are glueing say 4-5 layers of leather together and sanding is needed to even them out either because your glueing or cutting are not 100%. It seems at that point there is no other option but to sand the edges down until they are even. Up until now I've always done a first sanding with 150 grit sandpaper until all edges are even. Would love to hear Phil and other members take on this.
