Hello everyone! I just purchased this quite expensive card holder (secrid) and I noticed the edges are bothering me. I can't find much information from the supplier about what kind of leather it is, but I suspect that it is chrome tanned. Is there a way to burnish said leather? I'm a little sacred to act and do damage...

So this is my 8th month into the craft! This time I decided to use Ian Atkinsons pattern to help me understand gussets inside of a BiFold wallets coin purse. This is my first time making an item that uses gussets. I did have a pattern to simplify the matter, however I had many lessons during it's construction. The logistics behind every finished edge and stitch boggles me every time! For example, finishing the gussets edges felt too risky as I had already attatched the coin purse to the body - I was afraid of marking the surrounding leather. I can't figure out a way of doing this without being EXTREMELY careful... Nevertheless I am pleased with how this project turned out though. :) Please, take a look! And also critique my Photography if you like too! Thank you for your time! :)

In Say Hello Before Posting
Just introducing myself :) My name is Max Sandrone. I'm 25 years old (26 in 12 more days, Yikes!) I have been involved with Leathercraft for about 6-7 months now - Ever since watching BentleyLeatherCraft appearing on Alex Steele's YouTube Channel. Where they made a knife sheath and I instantly fell in love with the material. I feel like I know very little of the craft but I'm investing so much time (and money, ouch) into the craft with hopes of being able to produce some work similar to the masters you see around us here! Perhaps in the future it could turn into a business, it's creativity excties me and I find myself in the workshop every day - Even after working 12 hours in a labour intensive job! So that's simple 'ole me, just trying to 'get good'. :) I would also like thank Philip who does a fantastic job of bringing us together and developing our craft, great stuff mate I can't thank you enough!

Using a KS Blade pricking iron. Following a wing divider markline, I punch through following the line exactly and proves to create a straight line on the side I am punching through. (picture 1) However the back side(picture 2) is often veering off to the edge of the leather. I ensure the blades are plum, level, straight and all that carefulness. I just can't seem to escape this mistake. Perhaps the layers of leather are moving? Should I wait longer for the adheisive to take a stronger hold? I waited about 6-7 minutes before starting the process. Leaving it clamped with strong steel clips. I've been doing Leathercraft for about 6-7 months and this hurdle seems to be one of my greatest threats. Stitching takes time and perhaps this does too, but I'm not sure how to avoid this problem. I hope somebody can make sense of this post and help me out. It's such a bummer. ----------------------------------------------- End of problem ------------------------------------------------------ Here are some happier photos. All Hand dyed, cut and stitched :) I am proud really, this is an incredibly difficult art to get neat let alone perfect. Hat's off to ALL of you!
