Hello fellow crafters,
The title is pretty self explanatory, but I will give some context. I will be working on some projects that will require me to have leather about 0.3 to 02mm thick.
I am based in the US, I asked RMLS and they don't want to go below 0.4mm. I used to work with Europelle and they had no problem splitting leather at the requested 0.2mm but it seems they have gone bust.... and they weren't super reliable to start with.
I took a look at some splitting services in the US like those offered by "heritageleather" but same thing as RMLS, they won't go below 0.4. I haven't found any other company that does, but if anyone knows of a reputable one, I'm interested.
Ideally I'd like to not have to ship my leather to Europe, it'll cost me a fortune in shipping (and duties....) and I don't need to have huge quantites split, just a few panels.
Does anyone know of a supplier that has both a good selection of leathers (preferably from reputable tanneries) AND that offers splitting below 0.4mm? I am pretty sure that somewhere in Asia some companies do that and I just don't know of them.

Does anyone know if they are still in business? There website has stopped working for a little while now and their social media channels seem to be pretty much abandoned.
They weren't the most reputable, but I never personally had any issues with them and they had a very interesting selection of leathers from HCP that I couldn't find anywhere else, they were doing free splitting as well.
If anyone knows anything about this, let me know. And if anyone knows of another supplier of HCP leather that isn't some Etsy shop but still does small quantities I am also interested (especially Megisserie Julien and exotics).

In Say Hello Before Posting
Hi there,
I'm Jean-Baptiste from France, but I currently live in the US.
I have been leather crafting as a hobby for a little while now, but I wanted to really make a leap forward and improve my skills seriously. I used to learn with books and while they are great I needed something a bit more visual and so here I am.
As I have champagne taste, but beer pockets I got started in leather crafting thinking I could make Hermès-like products for myself without having to spend too much money. I realized it was a bit foolish as soon as I started purchasing my first tools and hides. But hey, since Hermès keeps raising its prices it might not have been that foolish of a move.
Cheers.
