Hi, Trying to follow the stitching video, using a single piece of leather. I stitch without casting and right side looks angled. I then cast and the left side looks angled, right side looks bad. Then switched back and, again, right side looks angled. Not sure how to get both sides to look nice. I tried left side forward up / right side right down. Nothing is working. Very frustrating. Points are up and away. Left needle goes through. Right goes behind left needle. Right needle goes through above left needles thread. NO CAST Pull needles through. Right side is angled. CAST Pull needles through. Left side is angled. Right side looks horrible. BACK TO NO CAST Pull needles through. Right side is angled again. This is the back:

Was introduced to leatherwork as a bespoke process that created by an atelier, which results in pieces of art. Shaping my approach to leatherwork. As noted in previous posts, like to integrate patterned silk as lining. Starting a new project that will incorporate a traditional zipper wallet with a flap that wraps around the wallets body, and fastened in the back via sew in magnets. When opened, the flap will be unwrapped from the wallets body to reveal the patterned silk; hidden artwork :). Eventually, will likely replace sew in magnets with Hermes turn lock. So, here is a list of supplies associated with the project. Feel it pertinent to say, I'm in no way associated with any of the listed products/supplie(r)s nor am I receiving anything from them in any way. Simply sharing information. Best. Work a lot with silk and leather. Something about the union of such seemingly opposite materials. Along the way, found this great fusible interface made of wool/goat hair. This product transforms soft handed limp silk into a form similar to a bendable thin card stock if you will. One simply irons the two materials and all of the crystals melt into the silk forming a bond. There is no fear of bleeding or alteration of the original fabric. Really amazing stuff. Usually us silk as lining in purse clutches, and this provides body and weight to the silks. Also prevents puckering/sagging of the silk. Have used it on leather before, but it didn't work that well. Imagine a skived leather would have worked better, but wouldn't trust it not to peel. For serious/large projects, fahsionsewingsupply will fuse materials for you in a professional press. Located in Los Angeles, California USA, they don't have them on their website, but to go in person they have floor to ceiling fabric options, many of which are not on the website. This print was $70 US per yard and is an original Alexander McQueen print from, what I understand to be, the 'Plato's Atlantis' collection.

Received LV iPhone wallet as a gift, and when I upgrade to iPhone X some years later the design had changed. Rather than buy a new wallet, I researched the one element which kept me from making my own, the non-sticky substance that the phone attached to. After much research, there are two products on the market, the below listed one is what I believe LV uses to stick the wallet and phone together without the use of additional hardware. They can make custom orders/runs etc. I bought the sample pack and that was enough for me. A word of caution, one company made a wallet where the suction came in contact with iPhone screens and it ruined/left a mark on that small section. So, don't adhere it to phone surface. Have tinkered with leatherwork for roughly 6 years now. Entirely self taught. Will create something, and then sell if to a friend, relative or stranger. When I do get special requests, will work the client to create in my own head what they are looking for through speaking with them, and waiting to get the right "feel". From there the danger begins, in that I do not accept any money upfront. Instead, will buy all material on my own dime, send pictures and ask design questions along the way. Then, as the end, will present a finished product. Price is never discussed, until product is handed over. Have never been taken this way. One day I might. My business model is akin to Bill Cunningham, "if they pay you, they can tell you what to do". I don't set deadlines, it might take me a year to finish. If they don't like it, I'm entirely willing to just hand it over to them, and walk away without payment. This despite spending 25/hours on a piece. My peace of mind is most important. Don't want the stress of someone telling me what to do, especially when money is involved. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYqiLJBXbss
