Thanks very much. Hardware is from Hand & Sew in Vancouver. Hardware is getting really expensive, so I’ve started getting some purses from thrift shops and harvesting the hardware from them. Coach and Fossil have great quality hardware, and sometimes the leather is nice enough to make something from as well

That worked 👍. Here is similar guidance from Mitutoyo. There are two ways the zero the gauge: 1. If the dial hand is not too far away from zero, you can simply adjust (turn) the bezel to read zero. 2. If the dial hand is too far away from zero, slightly loosen the screw found on the side of the frame that holds the dial indicator in place and adjust the indicator up or down until the hand is close to zero with the anvils touching. Then turn the bezel to fine adjust the zero setting.

Beautiful work. I’ve been thinking about getting a vintage machinists chest, but after 5 years into the hobby, I’ll now need three of them 😂

Okay, the gauge does not set to zero. I can’t find any info on calibrating this gauge. I’ve just written to the company for help, but does anyone here know how to do this? Many thanks

Thank you. The board is 5 1/4" wide. I don't have access to a wood shop, so I've been looking around for a while for a suitable pre-made board. It's about 3/4" thick, so I don't expect it to warp over time
