If i understand right you think that the Lin Cable is to thin for this stich?

How loud is a skiving machine like this. Could i have it at home?

This looks great. My greatest problem with Crimson irons is that the teeth are like awl and they are geting wider and punch a biger hole as deeper as you go in lether. And because of that they destroyed the line of the stich. I will have to buy these.

What about how far from the edge do you stich. Do you move the stich away from the edge thicker leather.

I guess it logical same thread and SPI on a softer leather will look diferent on a more hard denser.

I have Crimson Irons 5mm and 2,7mm and the irons tips look a lot like the awl. On this the tip is much wider. Can someone explaint to me how much would that efect the look of the finished sadle stich. Would the angle be more pronounced?

@Fadi thank you. But its nice to make all that mistakes the first time so i hope not to do that much on mymy second 😀

@Philip - Well i would say that the biggest mistake was that i did not keep my skiving knife sharp all the time. I should have gone a couple more times to the strop. Because of not beeing sharp leather streched a bit when i wanted to thin it or it was not thin enough where it should. - second thing that i did wrong is not letting the glue dry enough so the pieces moved when i put presure on them. - The filler on the strap was to far back so when i wanted to insert the spring bar i had problems. - edge of the strap was cut sloppy so when i painted it the paint and stiched it all of the mistakes were visible as you have lines for reference. Because it was cut sloppy the edge paint could not be applied corectlcy. - on the buckle side i almost run ot of thread because i did not cut it enogh. Two more holes and i could not finish it, lucky me :-) - i forgot to cut out the hole for the buckle pin so i had to do it carefuly when the strap was finished All in all i can say the the bigest problem was my lack of patience and hurrying to finish it so i did not think every step through before making it.

I have made a tone of mistakes but i learned a lot. Its ugly as heel but its my first 😁. I have to buy more tools and materials.

Thanks. I used Wuta 0.45 polyester round thread, but tthis time i did not waxed like i did when i made my first two wallets. Leather is Saint crispin baby calf.

Well i asumed that 0.45 meant a thicknes and that every is the same and the result will be the same. But today i started to work on a new wallet wallet and if the leather is to thin you cant get that nice effect of the sadle stich. The point of the post was that you have to be very carefull on what thread you pick for what project. I asumed that it was all the same but now i see that i have to test every thread on every leather or is there a guiede for something like this 😁
