Hi everyone, I have recently completed my first weekender bag based on my design, and implementing all the precious information learnt whilst being a member at @Leathercraft Masterclass and also from @Buccino (see where everything started here: https://www.leathercraftmasterclass.com/forum-1/leathercraft-techniques/gusset-construction-informations?appSectionParams=%7B%22origin%22%3A%22member_posts_page%22%7D ). My rolled handle design have been refined thanks to the De Havillard Bag class - the only difference is that I used a 3mm iron for my bag and I had to edit Phil’s pattern to accomodate that. Tha bag is made in Black Aniline Calf, it’s fully reinforced with salpa and fully lined with calf leather and has an internal zip pocket and a cotton shoulder strap. Hi everyone, Recently I have been trying to research unsuccessfully, some information about the kind of gusset construction in the photos attached. Does anyone know more about it? At glance it looks like it’s part folded outwards and then the bottom inwards (like some sort of “half welted”). I have seen It in most of the high-end travel bags and I was wondering the reason behind such a method and how to actually do it - maybe someone could recommend a good book? Thank you so much Angelo

Hello everyone, I am trying to refine my hand stitching skills and I would love to hear from you what you think about this last attempt. I am thinking also about upgrading my irons + awl (at the moment I am using a quite affordable Kyoshin Elle diamond pricking iron 3mm and a Kyoshin Elle awl) I have made two tests, the first I am using only the irons and for the second the iron + awl. I will say in advance that I am not a big fan of Tiger thread, but I didn’t want to waste my Fil Au Chinois for this test. It’s not quite there yet, but other that my skills that need refinement, what else do you see that is not working that I cannot see? Thread thickness vs leather thickness? Iron size vs thread? Tension? Any help would be very welcome Thank you so much Angelo
