I've been wanting to make a strop ever since seeing Phil's how-to video. I was at my car dealership recently for an oil change and saw that (for some reason) they sell charcuterie boards in their supply shop. So I talked them into giving me one, as it would make for a perfect strop platform.
I couldn't find any canvas in a wide enough width to go side to side, but that's okay because I'll only be using this for my skiving knife. I have a vintage strop (pictured) that Ill be refinishing for use with my cutting knives
It all went very well except for the creaser falling off the line in some spots on the "end caps" I made instead of using nails.
Nice work Dave. Ingenious idea to use a charcuterie board as a strop. Was it that width or did you trim it narrower?
