How versatile is a *manual* leather splitter?
If I buy a leather splitter, the kind with a fixed blade that you pull straps and such through, how versatile is this?
Belts and straps, I'm sure it is perfect for that. But could i split panels wide enough to make wallet card pockets from and so on? Or do i mainly get a strap thinning machine?

Yeah, been there, done that!
If it is for a once in a while, it can be used.
First time i did it, my tab went fro 7cm long to 9 cm long and did not look straight anymore
What i did once, was split the leather and then work the piece, but like i said, for extreme emergencies.
