Just finished this combo phone case/wallet last week. Exterior is a mystery chrome tanned leather from local boot makers scrap bin and the interior is an ostrich print (unsure of tannage). All card slots and the phone slot have turned edges. I was going to do turn all edges, but was getting a bit tough as my skiving knife sucks. This was the first every wallet like this that I have done and made all from my own patterns. Overall I am happy with the result. Edge finish (Giardini matte black)
needed some more time and patience, few mistakes with stitching and phone case portion. Happy to hear any recommendations, comments, etc....Don't hold back! I have thick skin and the advice will only make the next one that much better.
@Leathercraft Masterclass Thanks for the comments! I am looking forward to using some higher quality leather, juts got lots of other stuff to use up at home. Haha.
I agree about the pockets. This had been my intention, but as I was continually adjusting my pattern as I went, it ended up shorter, so adapted it to make it work for now.
I have already started making improvements to the design and hope to have another one to post in a month or two.
This course has helped my work so much, so thank you
@benlobbleather Great work Ben!
You are going to see miracles happen with higher quality leather, so you can take what you have learnt here and make another version with a decent leather.
As for improvements, I would probably start the card pockets from the very top and stitch the pocket backing leather in with the exterior seam. You may get another pocket doing that too.
