Really enjoyed making these. Love the simple / clean design and Phil's instruction was spot on. Even so, I encountered a problem with the snaps I used. I can't recall where I purchased these snaps but they are painfully difficult to close. I had no problem setting them (though I did need to grid the posts given the leather thickness) but you risk breaking your glasses trying to connect the snap. I tried using a smaller snap on the red case and did some tests prior to setting. They were still a bit difficult to close but seemed easier than the snap on the blue case. I also beefed up the nose piece in an effort to provide a little more support and tried snapping / unsnapping before adding the decorative leather inside of the snaps - t was still way too hard to close. I'm guessing this is a result of either using the wrong snaps entirely or using cheap snaps. Regardless, if you're making one of these, test your snaps beforehand and make sure they open / close easily.
Despite my poor snap selection, these are still beautiful little cases and I will definitely be making more of them.
wow. dam sexy work! I'm jelous. - also nice photography.
Incredible craftsmanship ! Very well executed and the stitching looks spot on.
It could be the snaps, it could be the way they are set, the tool sizes used etc. Did they close ok before you added the leather plug/lining inside of them? Just wondering if they are a tad thick.
