i think just keep making different small things, so you can try different techniques, eventually things get easier and results get better. am trying to make a different bag at the moment, but not going to plan. will have a rethink

I have a splitting machine which I run the binding strip through. Think I aimed for about .8mm. I marked a centre line down the inside of the binding, glued it in place. Ran a line 2 mm on one side and about 3.5 the other. Just prick marked up to the line on the 2 mm side. Used an awl and aimed for the centre line on the other side. Hope that makes

It was ok, did a test part of the area where the main pocket is folded on itself to see how much skiving I would need

Not the correct colour for the piping, but same veg tan leather just to see how it would go together. I would think about how you plan to create it, write down the order in which to do it, and then don't be afraid to alter it as you go along, there are always things which change. Thinking about it now, I would probably use thicker piping if I was making it again and ge the leather for the front pocket thinned.
