Hello, I am a bookbinder working in Scotland. I mainly use leather in making books, but also work with other craftsmen (like Jewellers, knife makers, etc.) who need fine leatherwork. Since the start of book construction, leather has featured in many aspects of the structure, not only coverings, but thongs, spine linings, and end banding.
My website shows the type of work that I do (www.laurawest.com)
Hello Laura, welcome to the group. I'm also a bookbinder, based in North Bedfordshire. I make all kinds of books, but love to use leather. I've been learning leatherwork to improve my bookbinding, but also to make complementary products. I'm also learning some silverwork, so I can make trims and clasps etc in the future.
Hello Laura, thank you for the introduction! Welcome to the forum.
Welcome here Laura and I have always wanted to try my hand at bookbinding, but it has always been kinda intimidating for me. nd.
