Hi been doing leathercraft for about a couple Of years mainly at weekends and some evenings. My full time job is an Art & Design lecturer. I began leather work because I wanted a leather strop for my straight razors and thought instead of buying one I’d have a go at doing one myself. Since then I’ve mainly focused on small leather goods with the occasional bag.

Go for it Phil don't think I'll ever go back to cartridge razors. I began with a shavette then I found a straight razor that was my great grandfather's (approx 130 year old razor) . I decided it would be cool to be able to use the same razor he did so I sent it away to get properly honed. It was a nervous first shave with it but pretty successful. Since then I've bought about 15 other vintage razors which I can now sharpen myself . The only new razor I've bought is a revisor razor from Germany this was recommended on a shaving forum as being a good reliable razor. atgshaving.com and theshavingroom.co.uk are a couple of good shaving forums with people who know considerably more than me so worth a look there for some recommendations
Hey Dale, good to see you here! 😀 I've been meaning to get a straight razor for ages, kind of bored of the shavette now. Any recommendations on a good razor to start with?
Cheers,
Phil
