Hi - I'm a little confused about this. I tried the Lin Cable waxed linen thread and found it more difficult to use than the other threads I've tried - Carriage and Tiger. Am I supposed to run this thread through wax before using it? Thanks.

I am very fond of Lin cable and I use it pretty much in all my projects, waxing makes it much easier to deal with in my experience. It makes an even bigger difference when using the smaller 10m spools, which have some tension in them from the smaller spool size.
Often I also melt the wax into the thread with some heat from a alcohol lamp, something that many Japanese leatherworkers do as well.
Just got done making 13 wallets with size 432 Lin cable and the build up of friction in holes were problematic. On an up side, I learned quickly how to retie broken thread and hid new knot between leather pieces. Not ideal but it beat jumping up and down on a almost finished product😜 in frustration - a larger hole that was hammered down when complete helped solve the problem.
Thank you! I want to like this thread since it’s pretty and has more variety of colors. I assumed that since the description says waxed that it‘s ready to go. I’ll try giving it a good run through the wax and hopefully will see a difference!
I love Lin cable as it gives a clean look. I wax the thread 7 plus times to reduce friction. The thread breaks unless friction reduced. Of course you could use a larger hole than what is recommended for thread size- this helps too
