Hi guys wonder if someone can put my mind at ease, Phil suggested using ripstop for watch strap reinforcement instead of vildona As easier to obtain. My question is does rip stop offer the same amount of stiffness and rigidity to the strap? Thanks!

Personally I find rigidity as a problem when it comes to watch straps. My goal is a strap as soft as possible but doesn't stretch. Different reinforcement materials can be suitable for different construction methods.
Thank you so much!
Hello,
no, they do not. However, both these materials are used for stretch resistance not rigidity (although veldona is a bit more rigid than the ripstop).
For rigidity, I prefer to use a firm vegtan as a filler so that the firmess feels more natural. You could also use a waterproof pva glue instead of a solven based cement, but be careful, lots of pva will make your strap feel like pavement real quick.
