Hello, I am new to leathercraft. I have been using the Olfa round knife to cut thick saddle leather, but I am not too happy with this knife. I want to try a round knife, but I want a top-of-the-line tool (cry once...). I realize I cannot get a Terry Knipschield knife anymore, but I wonder if I can find a maker of similar quality that has stock available. I appreciate your guidance and help with this question. Thank you!

Hi Paul p,
Sounds like a plan! Thanks for the corner cutters, I have a similar cutter I ordered from Australia (Japanese Tools) and I really like it! But I would like more variety. The Etsy options seem to be good. Thanks again!
Excellent suggestions and guidance! Thank you guys for this valuable advice.
I appreciate seeing the pictures of Wranglers and Doldokki. Thank you for taking the time to upload these. Following your suggestions, I ended up ordering a Chartermade pattern knife! If you don't mind, I will be sending another note asking about "corner punches."
Again, thank you all for your kind help!
Laura
Some great suggestions here guys!
i have a doldokki head knife which comes extremely sharp. i have quite a few tools from him now, and they are all very good, not cheap but good. i usually email him direct to get things, as that seems the best and cheapest way.
i think his email address is carstylist@naver.com, you can ask him for a price list and maybe delivery times, all his prices are in US Dollars.
Hello,
as @PJCUSA mentioned, leatherwranglers have an amazing reputation.
I would however advise you to get one of there "modified" round knives. And guess what, Buckleguy has them in stock, no need to wait for 6 months
Here are two that you might want to look at.
If you are not in a rush take a look at Leather Wranglers. He makes some pretty nice knives but they come with a a 6 month lead time. Made from Crucible’s premium CPM 20CV alloy. https://leatherwranglers.com
If you need something right now then Terrick a gentleman from South Africa makes knives under the name Chartermade. He uses a steel from Austria that is basically D2 steel. Rocky Mountain Leather Supplies in Utah sells his knives. www.rmleathersupply.com
