Does the leather hide that we purchase from the tanneries includes the 3 points of a leather? Full grain, TOP grain & Genunie leather) or do they only contain full grain and TOP grain?

Yes, the leather hide that we purchase from the tanneries includes all three points of a leather: Full grain, TOP grain & Genuine leather. Full grain is the strongest and most durable type of leather as it contains the full thickness of the hide with minimal processing. Top grain is also a strong type of leather but it has been buffed and sanded to remove imperfections and create a more uniform look. Genuine leather is often used for furniture upholstery and is made from low-grade hides that have been split into layers.
This is the Eternal Leather debate with customers who only hear about Genuine Leather. I personally would never buy GL as it as no character whatsoever! It's a dead leather to me!
But like Phil said, it's not easy to get your hands on GL. The tanneries i buy from only sell Full Grain (to my knowledge). We are talking the big names tanneries all over the world.
@Ben Wu It's actually not that easy to buy 'Genuine Leather' which is a generic term commonly used for a lower split that has had it's surface embossed with a finish to look like it was the top split.
Technically the term GL can be used for any kind of leather, but I've yet to see a company using full/top grain and calling it GL. If they're using the good stuff, you'll know about it!
I think I've only seen lower splits from one supplier or tannery that I go to. The lesser quality splits come from tanneries or finishers that you've probably never heard of, that get their splits from tanneries you probably have heard of..
