Hey guys,
I just received my first purchase of suede. I'm planning to use it as interior lining for my version of the Turenne handbag. I'm a complete novice when it comes to suede, so I'm not sure if the suede I received is supposed to look the way it does. To me, it seems like it shouldn't have all those dark spots on it. It doesn't make a difference in which way I comb the suede. The dark veiny areas don't go away.
What do you guys think? Is that normal, or should I get another one?
Thanks in advance!
JC
Thanks a lot for the replies! Here’s the other side of the suede. I purchased the suede from buyleatheronline.com. I got the “Premium Suede Velour Nappa Baby Calf”.
@John Ciprian I'd also like to see the other side. If it has a smooth surface then it'll be the grain layer and you are stuck with it.
If it is also suede-like on the other side you have a bottom split which may explain the veining, but it can be flipped.
If you're creative about where you place your patterns you can work round it. If you're also installing a pocket, that can also cover minor blemishes.
Since you're two months into leatherwork and about to tackle a Turenne handbag (I love it!) I wouldn't worry too much, as it's going to be a huge learning curve.
V2 should get the premium skins as you'll have 100% more bag making experience by then ;)
Hello,
what does the other side look like?
