hi all, I have been unable to place an order with buyleatheronline.com from the uk. I queried this with them and just received a reply that they suspended shipping to the uk following Brexit. They are updating their systems and from next week we should be able to order from the uk, but there will be a minimum order value of £135 (including shipping).
so if like me you spent the afternoon selecting leather, and then found you couldn’t check-out, all should be well next week. If you are desperat, I think they will take an order over email between now and then, but the £135 miniumum applies.
I think the £135 value leaves the buyer liable for taxes :-)
cheers
David
SO SO sad that England has left EU. I just placed my last order at AA Crack. Man I loved that place. But now, it´s just too expensive.
Bought this hide https://www.aacrack.co.uk/old-fashioned-parker-13-15.html
When it arrives at my door, I will have set me back 300€. For 38 feet.
The plan was to make some super nice aprrons. but at that cost, I dont think I will be able to make the money back.
I’ve just received the customs bill.
the order including postage was £154.80 and the customs charge £41.96.
total £196.76.
so exactly as it would have been before Brexit, except for the addition of an £11 admin charge from DHL, of course there is now a minimum order value of £135 which wasn’t there before.
good news !
Quick update:
Dear Customer,
We would like to advise you that we have adapted our website to the new Brexit rules and is now possible to place orders on https://buyleatheronline.com
In compliance with the new Brexit regulations, orders must have a minimum amount of £135 including shipping costs. Customers will be required to pay import taxes which correspond to UK VAT of 20% and the currency of the orders must necessarily be in (GBP) pounds.
Thanks for the trust placed in us

@david.edwell You can see the master plan to get you to buy within the UK is in full effect!
Unfortunately we aren't great at making every kind of leather there is, so it's going to be a pain moving forward in one way or another.
I think we should get together after covid, hire a van, remove the floorboards and smuggle in a load of illegal Italian goatskins on the cheap! I'll meet you at Dover for operation 'round knife' 😉
thanks David,
does that mean we will not be paying the Italian VAT, just the British VAT?
