Hello, I'm trying to figure out a secure way to adhere a brass decoration to a leather bag. This is the rigid strip of brass that I want to use:
Here's how the front of the bag would look: (excuse the messiness -- it's a prototype)
And here's how it would look on the inside of the flap.
My plan is to glue the ends of the brass strip to the inside flap to keep the brass piece secure and then glue and sew a flap lining piece to the inside of the flap.
Are there other ideas of how to construct this that would be more secure? I want to feel confident that the brass piece won't move.
Also, I haven't watched all of the videos yet, so if there is a video in particular that shows something similar, feel free to let me know!
Thanks for any suggestions!
Are you using a stiffener/support/mid layer? If you are, you could cut the shapes in the stiffening layer to a tight fit and secure the brass in place. No stitching no nothing.
You could always sew the lining in a U shape around each end of the brass strip so that it cannot move.
If you wish to avoid seeing stitches on the front, then a glue-in may be your only practical option.
I've moved this post to the 'Help From The Community' section as the Mastermind Group is for course related questions š
